I would love to know what your thoughts are about contact management apps. I ended up with over 1000 contacts from my gmail and facebook accounts. I don't want to have to delete/edit the bulk of these. I also haven't seen a good alternative to the basic contact app.

I'm looking for the best podcast player that will download podcast automatically over the air. I have PodTrapper for my BB and it is the best in my opinion but it has not yet ported over to Android. Paid or Free it doesn't matter to me.. just miss having my podcast loaded up and ready to go. :)

Has anybody found a music player (or podcast player, that's really what I'm using it for) that has handy buttons to skip 10s, 30s, 1m, or something like that? Makes it super handy to shorten podcasts by fast forwarding the intro/outro or just part of the discussion you aren't interested in.

EDIT: I'm specifically interested in a player that can use audio files I already have on my SD card. I have my real computer download the podcasts and then transfer to my Droid, so podcast apps that can only get input directly from feeds are not helpful to me. BTW, the reason is that after downloading on my desktop machine, I run a script that speeds up the audio by 1.5x (while preserving the frequencies). So unless the player is able to also speed up the audio nicely, I really need one that can play files from the SD card.

Does use of an adblocking app like AdFree deprive app developers of revenue? Does it make developers more likely to just release paid apps and forgo ad-supported free apps?

Edit: Part of this comes down to whether mobile ad networks pay by the view or by the click. I don't know the answer to that.

I am trying to add Hebrew support to my Nexus. For starters, I downloaded the SDK, and am trying "fastbook devices" to see if it recognizes the phone. It doesn't (nothing is printed out). When I try "flashdisk reboot", it writes "waiting for device".

I suspect the problem is with Windows drivers. I haven't been able to find a way to make the drivers work. In Device Manager, I see under "Other Devices" a deviced named "Andriod 1.0". My phone is updated to the latest version of Android (2.1), so I don't understand why Windows sees it as "Android 1.0".

How should I proceed?

I have a Motorola Cliq which I bought in October. I switched to Android from BlackBerry, having been a BlackBerry user for about 4 years.

One thing I noticed is that I cannot add an .ics file to my Google Calendar. I looked it up and found there is a workaround for this on a PC, essentially downloading the file as an email attachment and then importing it into Google Calendar. But I have no idea how to do this on my Android device.

Android makes it easy to create events from the device and invite other people as guests on the google calendar event. But how are we supposed to accept events from other users??

http://www.forceclose.com/questions/1326/attachments-with-email-client-in-android-2-0-1-moto-droidAttachments with Email client in Android 2.0.1 (Moto-Droid)ungarop2010-03-01T13:28:21Z2010-03-01T13:28:21Z

I am using the Motorola Droid with the standard Email client that comes with it (not GMail).

I am connecting to my corporate mail server using IMAP and everything works as expected except when I send email from the phone.

Whenever I reply to an email from the phone the recipient and the copy that I see in my Sent folder contain the name of the quoted sender as a text attachment (like att00001.txt = "Fname Lname wrote:") and the original body of the email as a text attachment (att00002.txt = Entire body of original message).

There don't seem to be any preferences for changing this behavior. I have connected to my corporate server using IMAP with other phones/devices and this has not occurred, so I am assuming this is behavior of the client/Android.

Any thoughts besides switching email clients? I am already looking at K-9, but it has some issues with passwords that contain special characters.

http://www.forceclose.com/questions/267/how-to-add-keyboard-language-in-htc-heroHow to add keyboard language in HTC hero?hniu2009-10-22T15:57:01Z2010-03-01T05:31:24Z

I am looking for Russian version of Touch Input keyboard (HTC Sense built-in keyboard). However this question might also be relevant for anybody who wants to use another language on their HTC Sense Android phone.

My phone came with English, French, Italian and Spanish keyboard languages (including auto-correction, completion and spelling) pre-installed. So far, the only way I found to change keyboard language was using programs such as "Custom Locale" and "More Locale". Changing Locale to Russian actually gave me switchable Russian/English keyboard, but it also translated the whole UI to Russian, which is not what I wanted.

So my question is how can I change keyboard language, while leaving the rest of UI as it is? Although, standalone Touch Input keyboard can be downloaded from XDA forum, I don't think it offers multiple languages.

Thanks very much for any help!
