Is there an IME I can install on a non rooted android phone (G1) ? I have found some pinyin IME, some of which are very good. but... pinyin works great when you know how the thing is pronounced, when reading unknown characters I am left high and dry.

So, I want to draw the characters so I can look them up in dictionary, see how they are written in pinyin etc...

does anyone know of a good IME that uses stokes as an entry method ?

as a corollary to this question

does anyone know if there is a dictionary available that works with strokes to find entries ?

EDIT Here is an example of what I would want, stumbled upon this while sifting though the net...

EDIT... Again It seems Google PinYin now supports stroke entry. However it is not as user friendly as simply drawing the character. one must click the strokes buttons in the correct sequence, I find it a bit awkward to use. Still searching !

I found Lianghao Cidian from this Android Community post:

The picture is actually the HTC Chinese IME... I would love to put my hands on it but so far I have only found versions that installs only on rooted phones. Lianghao Cidian is different (I have it) to use it you must know the radicals and some basics about chinese scripts. As such it is very long and frustrating to use, still, so far is the best compromise to figure out what is written before me ! – Newtopian Jan 22 at 10:00
@Newtopian Oops, sorry! I'll continue looking for another input method. – Isaac Waller Jan 22 at 17:10
@Isaac : No worries, Thanks for the proposition. But from what I see (kept looking all this time) if I want one I guess I will have to code it myself ! ha! if I had a million years to do all the things I Want to do ! – Newtopian Feb 8 at 1:11
