I am going to Japan for a week. Love to bring my Nexus One but wanna make sure I do not end up with $$$$ bill. In the same time, I want have the phone on to use it with Wifi networks and perhaps the GPS.

As a follow up question, if there a way I can buy a SIM in Japan that would provide me with an unlimited data for that week?

What are my options?

APNDroid will toggle off your data but leave wifi, gps, etc. untouched. Another app that does similar is WiSyncPlus. WiSyncPlus is more powerful but also much more complicated, and in my opinion the added funcionality is not worth the added complication.

Any specific benefits of APNDroid over Quick Settings? There is a separate setting for 3G,EDGE,GPRS and/or WiFi. Plus a bunch of other features that I'd been using for a while? – Mark Feb 8 at 23:46

I'm not familiar with Quick Settings. APNDroid literally renames your Access Point Names to switch off all data (while leaving voice functional). (For this reason, it's important to make sure it's switched off before you uninstall it. Heh.) Latest version can plug into Locale. – Chuck Feb 8 at 23:52
