What is this apps purpose? – Cathleen Feb 16 at 17:11
It's a soft keyboard replacement where you draw your finger across the keyboard from letter to letter instead of tapping each one. Haven't tried it, but folks seem to love it. Shapewriter is a similar app that is available in the market. I didn't like Shapewriter, but from what I've heard the idea is implemented better in Swype. – Chuck Feb 17 at 14:15
shapewriter is no longer in the market (and i lost my copy in an upgrade :( (where can I get a new one?)). – Arthur Ulfeldt Jul 14 at 18:00
the tracing-keyboards like shapewriter, swype, slideIT,... are truely impressive to me. after a month I'm just about beating my speed on a full sized keyboard. it makes using the physical keyboard seem clunky and slow. – Arthur Ulfeldt Jul 14 at 18:02

The News & Weather app/widget from 2.1, available at xda. Takes a little while to load, but then works great on my G1. (I use the app but not the widget.)

It's nice to have an alternative.

FYI: dead link. – Stevoni Oct 16 at 22:40
Worked for me earlier, but not now for some reason. I'll check. – Isaac Waller Oct 16 at 22:42
They seem to have killed the slideme.org domain, so here's another link: mobentoo.com/sam – Isaac Waller Oct 16 at 22:43

Wifi Tether for Root Users. Only available on the Devs' site because f*cking T-Mobile made Google pull it off the US Market.

I downloaded it from the market last week. – Arthur Ulfeldt Jul 14 at 18:03

It's only a beta right now, but I love the Evernote app. http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=11257&p=45118&hilit=android+beta#p45118

I'm trying this now, it seems useful. =] – FckingAllen Oct 7 at 20:55
It's not perfect yet since it sends you to the browser to view notes, but it's a lot more convenient than the mobile site or email for creating notes. – judge doom Oct 8 at 15:14
I noticed, but at least it has a nice simple mobile site to view it on. i liked it. – FckingAllen Oct 9 at 20:08

I LOVE the look but it tries to correct my spelling. What if I'm trying to spell something wrong for amusement? It won't let me :-( – Stevoni Oct 10 at 12:37
It will let you spell it wrong, you just have to select it from the menu it gives you, and you can go through the options to change everything. – FckingAllen Oct 12 at 5:04
