Anybody know any "hidden" feagtures here, I noticed quickoffice let's me. View pdfs online but can't find it on phone why? I feel like the beam reader app I have may be a waste of space...also why does visual voicemail give access to sd card but phone itself does not? Sorry that's 2 part question but the concept is the same to me (hidden features).

Not specific to the Droid, but adding an empty file named .nomedia to any folder will hide its contents from the photo gallery (and other gallery-like apps). This is handy if, for example, you don't want have to scroll through all yr twitter avatars whenever you go to view your photos.

Nice, I was wondering about this specifically to Twitter cached images/avatars – Bryan Denny Nov 17 at 21:00

You'll have to install some sort of file explorer app to view contents of your SD card, such as EStrongs File Explorer or OI File Manager.

Holding home button on moto droid brings up last 6 apps you used. Long press on apps etc to find additional options. Apps can be added to home screen from menu w/ long press this is good when the widget is too large. Downloading manual is useful but a lot has to learned using other methods Keep adding tips b/c I am still learning Thanks for everyones contribution here before long we will have a user created manual here ! I hope.

I would give this +10 if I could -- super helpful tip, I never would have discovered that on my own. – lgritz Nov 18 at 22:58
Yeah I stumbled across that one but if you go to the site listed above for manual its there but it leaves out a lot of info too. Add tips as you go! – token Nov 18 at 23:42

Ok so tip I can offer is to go to support.vzw.com/phones and find moto droid user manual (this is where I discovered quickoffice was availabe for pdf viewing). I downloaded and viewed manual here but can't reproduce w/o app I found on market. Hopes this helps answer my initial question...

for apps running in back ground- go to seetings> accounts n sync > background data. note: market needs background data on to run.

to see active services go to settings > applications > running services.

note : some things will appear hear that do not in adv task killer etc.

Quick save to Droid Dictionary -

  1. Once you have completed typing the word but before hitting spacebar >
  2. Long Tap on the word where it is displayed in the Far Left Corner of the Word Suggestion Box
  3. It automatically saves & you will see / receive a confirmation message.

To enhance your phone sound while making a call. (I'm sure some of you have noticed static every now and then) Go to the phone dial pad and do this: ##7764726 (##program) Enter spc password-000000 Verify 04 vocode Select evrc-b

This should beaf up the phones sound quality and hopefully get rid of the random static and interferance.

This sounds extremely useful, but what exactly am I changing or doing to my phone? Any possible negative side-effects? Do I do this just once, or do I have to do it before each call? Thanks – Cathleen Feb 16 at 16:57
